Network cabling test instruments are designed with various functions for specific field tasks. They have different price, performance, and applications. Depending on the task that the test instrument performs in the field, it can be classified into one of three hierarchical groups: certification, qualification, or verification. While a few characteristics are common to many test tools, each group addresses a unique testing need and provides a different level of operational assurance.
