For our calculation it is first of all necessary to take into account the fixed costs, which can then be divided (for example on an annual basis) among all the certifications performed in the reference period, which include the following items:
Amortization of instrumentation Instrumentation maintenance and calibration Staff training and periodic updating Any software licenses used
Furthermore, as regards the variable costs and therefore proportional to the number of certification tests performed (for example still on an annual basis), the following costs are included:
Costs of personnel assigned to certification activities for test activities and related ancillary costs (travel, business trips, vehicles, PPE, etc.)
Additional cost of personnel assigned to certifies for research activities and recognition of problems and for the consequent repair of network points that do not pass the certification (an average value of 3% of points that fail certification is considered; the necessary processing times vary according to the type of connection, i.e. depending on whether they are copper network points, optical network points or backbone optical points)
