Network cable testing tools support a variety of special functions designed for specific applications. They differ in price, performance and scope. Depending on the task performed by the testing tool, tools can be classified into three hierarchical groups: certification, qualification, and verification tools.
While some of the testers' functions overlap, each group meets a unique testing need and provides its own level of operational assurance. Another test solution can be used to troubleshoot installed cabling with tone generator and detector kits.
Certification tools are the only instruments that provide information about a system's compliance or non-compliance with industry standards.
