In the verification processes, it is verified that the cable is connected correctly and the basic continuity functions are tested, to ensure that all the wires of a cabling link are connected to the appropriate determination points and not to the other conductors. Other tools such as the reflectometer, allow to determine the length of a cable, distance of the splices or problems such as corrosion of the wiring.

Structured Cabling System Certification is the mechanism to ensure compliance with industry standards.

Certification instruments are the only formal tools that derive a "Pass" or "Fail" according to industry standards. In international markets, the institution in charge of verifying these standards is the Electrotechnical Commission of the International Organization for Standardization (ISO / IEC), who are responsible for creating and maintaining standards for telecommunications cabling.
