network cable certifications

In contrast to this, the cable standards specify the performance parameters of pure cables without connectors. As with the components, it can therefore be assumed that a data cable labeled “Category 6A” meets the performance requirements that standardization places on this category. Manufacturers develop, produce and test their products in accordance with the standards for components and cables.

The third category of performance requirements - that applies to cabling - is of interest to service technicians because it relates to the installed cabling. The cabling standards define the performance parameters of complete, installed transmission links (link and channel) consisting of cables and connectors that must be tested "on site". These on-site tests are critical, however, as the permanent and channel link performance determine whether the network devices are functioning properly and the network is providing the agreed bandwidth.
