network cable installer

When setting up the certifier to perform tests on the cable, the required performance standard and the existing cable configuration must be selected. When certifying cabling systems in office buildings, you have the choice between the channel link and the permanent link.

The channel link comprises the installed cabling and the connection cables (patch cables) with which the network device is connected to the cabling. In Figure 1 the permanently installed cabling, which is referred to as permanent link (PL), is shown in green, the patch cables are shown in purple. The measurement begins approx. 2 cm behind the certifier's channel adapter and includes the patch cable and the connector to the distribution field (patch field) up to the data socket at the workplace. The connection to the channel adapter is not taken into account in the test. The black crossbars with the stop / go symbols indicate which elements of the cabling are being tested.
